Welcome to Vanessa Hensel Personal Training
It's a NEW YEAR and it's time for a NEW YOU! Does your New year's resoulution include getting healthy, starting a fitness program, losing weight? While resoulutions are well-intentioned, unfortunatley most people fail at keeping them. With all of the hype surrounding these promises, it's easy to get caught up in them without taking them seriously. Here are some steps to help you keep your promises to yourself:
- Choose an obtainable goal:Wanting to look like a super model is not realistic, however, promising to include at least 30 minutes of exercise into your daily routine is.
- Avoid choosing a goal that you a failed at in the past: This will only set you up for failure. Instead of saying you want to lose 30 pounds by March, promise to eat better and inlcude daily exercise.
- Create a game plan: Write down your own personal plan and what you are going to do to acheive your goals, this way you are more likely to stick to them.
- Break it down and make it less intinmidating: Set several smaller goals to achieve throughout the year that will help you to reach the ultimate goal. Then even if you aren’t able to reach your final goal, you will have many smaller, but still significant, achievements along the way.
- Ask friends and family for help so that you are accountable to someone: Just be sure to set limits so that this is helpful and not irritating.
- Reward yourself with each milestone:If you’ve stuck with your resolution for 2 months, treat yourself to something special. But, be careful of your reward type. If you’ve lost 5 pounds, don’t give yourself a piece of cake as an award. Instead, treat yourself to a something non-food related, like a professional massage or a manicure.
- Limit your number of promises: You will spread yourself too thin if you try to make multiple changes in your life all at once.
- Seek professional help: Look for a Certifed Personal Trainer in your area or a Fitness class for more help.
